Some pictures of our attempts at beautifying our sub floors by painting with stencil. A la Lovely Etc.
This is floor #1 in the front parlour (I worked until 3:30 AM and all I got were blotchy stencils and lifted blue paint. I think both things can be fixed though with more time).
Beautiful! It looks perfect from the pictures - no imperfections noticeable at all.
There's a post on one of my favourite blogs featuring all kinds of tips about stencilling floors: http://www.younghouselove.com/2010/09/our-sunroom-mini-makeover-phase-three-2/
From far away it looks OK. I've got some stencil adhesive to make the lines crisper but now the debate is whether to redo the existing tile or just continue (It sits crookedly too...AND I'm a perfectionist).

Ah yes, I am annoyingly familiar with that sentiment...
Good luck!
